Joseph Pilates

The Pilates method was originally known as "Contrology" and was developed by Hubertus Joseph (Joe) Pilates in the early 1920s.  Joe and his wife Clara ran their "Contrology” business from their apartment in New York filled with the apparatus he created, much of which has changed little in design today.

The Pilates method enables both your body and mind to work together to improve strength, flexibility, mobility, overall health and provide a sense of well being.  Working in this way, it can help to restore balance to the body and develop efficiency in everyday movement, whether you are sitting, standing, walking or take regular exercise.

My classes focus on specific areas of the body individually, teaching the body in front of me for a personalised experience.  You will work through exercises specific to your body, even in a group class, that make the most of the Pilates method, to enable you to move efficiently.
